Fixed Duration Employment – Neuroscience Discovery / Translational
Research We are seeking an ambitious post-doctoral scientist, with
strong research and communication skills, to contribute to highly
innovative research projects. Your work will utilize cutting-edge
technologies to increase the understanding of the neuronal
representation of psychosis, antipsychotic effects and cognitive
functions in the rodent brain, which will ultimately lead to novel
medicines for mental health. In this role, you will: Investigate
multiplexed neuronal activity utilizing a miniature fluorescence
microscope implanted in freely-moving mice expressing a calcium
sensor, along with multiple behavioral paradigms and
pharmacological modulations. Collect and analyze multidimensional
neuronal activity patterns in combination with various behavioral
conditions related to psychiatric diseases and computational /
statistical / machine learning methods. Be a part of Neuroscience
Discovery team working with Akihiko S Kato PhD (

significant interactions with other groups and departments within
Eli Lilly and Company. Identify areas of key need across clinical
development and champion creative solutions to address those needs.
Maintain external awareness and learning to benefit the
organization. Present findings at conferences and publish in high
quality peer-reviewed journals. Basic Qualifications: PhD in
biochemistry, physiology, pharmacology or similar life science
field with all completed requirements by September 2025, strong
background in neuroscience. Additional Skills/Preferences:
Proficiency and motivation in rodent handling and stereotaxic
surgical techniques. Self-directed and highly motivated individual
who wants to develop and learn new techniques while continually
pursuing research and publication goals. Excellent problem-solving
skills including critical and analytical thinking Fluency in
theoretical neuroscience and machine learning will be highly
helpful. Creates a learning environment, open to suggestions and
actively solicits input from scientists on the team Excellent
communicator (oral and written) with presentation experience, along
with a strong publication record. Proficient in data analysis and
reporting Experience in quantitative methods associated with
in-vivo imaging / electrophysiology, small animal surgery,
behavioral assessments, custom instrumentation, and/or
computational methods. Familiarities in the fields of rodent
psychiatric models, evaluation of rodents’ cognitive functions and
learning / memory. Raises the bar and is not satisfied with the

This position is not permanent. It is for a fixed duration of two
years with potential to extend to 3 years and for a maximum up to 4

on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic
location. The anticipated wage for this position is $58,000 -
$100,320 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a
company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual
performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit
