Biotransformation will scientifically manage Discovery and
Development biotransformation activities and staff for small
molecules and new modalities within the ADME/Tox organization. The
director will provide deep scientific and strategic direction,
ensuring that all activities are aligned with the organization's
goals. This role involves assembling and managing a team of experts
in biotransformation supporting drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics
and fostering collaboration and innovation across multiple sites.
The director will be responsible for maintaining high-quality data,
implementing best practices, and ensuring compliance in and
influencing regulatory guidance across both discovery and
development. They will also work closely with other ADME/Tox staff,
and other departments to integrate biotransformation insights into
broader research and development strategies. The Director will
represent Eli Lilly and Company in external collaborations,
conferences, and industry forums, contributing to the advancement
of knowledge in the field. Ultimately, this leadership role is
essential for driving scientific excellence and strategic growth
within the biotransformation group, ensuring that our drug
discovery and development efforts are efficient, innovative, and
impactful. Responsibilities: Help build/cultivate a team of
biotransformation scientists to support Discovery and Development
projects for small molecules and new modalities. Lead
biotransformation team in designing and implementing
biotransformation studies both internally and externally at CROs.
Ensure high-quality data is generated by both internal and external
sources. Understand, influence and apply regulatory guidance
relevant to biotransformation/metabolism studies. Develop and
implement strategic plans for biotransformation project support.
Communicate the interpretation and impact of biotransformation
results across ADME/Tox, project teams, and management effectively.
Collaborate in a fast-paced work environment with internal staff
and external CROs. Mentor and supervise junior staff. Engage in the
external scientific community. Minimum Qualifications: PhD in
chemistry, or related field with 7 years of work experience in
biotransformation and drug metabolism. Additional
Qualifications/Attributes: Demonstrated experience supporting
biotransformation/bioanalysis of new modalities (i.e. ADC’s,
peptides, RNA, siRNA, ARC’s). Strong leadership, communication, and
interpersonal skills. Experience with regulatory guidance(s) for
drug development. Experience managing scientific teams Deep
understanding of biotransformation, and drug metabolism impact on
moving compounds from Discovery though IND to NDA Lilly is

on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic
location. The anticipated wage for this position is $168,000 -
$294,800 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a
company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual
performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit
