Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for
assisting with planning, developing, coordinating, and executing
the environmental, safety and occupational health components of
personnel, materials, equipment, and working environments. Helps
the EH&S Manager implement the most superior environmental and
safety plans and training systems for CES and its Clients. Relative
to numerous regulatory influences, the Environmental, Health and
Safety Specialist helps performs internal/external audits and
executes corrective actions towards comprehensive compliance
assurance. Responsibilities:
- Support updating of facility Permits, Plans and SOP's.
- Review and update facility audit packages
- Performs other duties as required including but not limited to
directly interfacing with customers, external sales, internal sales
and facilities to aid in the approval process as well as completing
actual approvalsPoints of Clarity:

Participation:
- Assists in the development of EH&S policies and procedures
which are applicable to the conduct of business both by EH&S,
Sales and Marketing, AE's, Covanta facilities and
customers.Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in science (biology, chemistry,
environmental science, occupational health and safety) or
engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, industrial
hygiene etc.) or similar degree preferred.
- Word processing, database, spreadsheet, and power point
skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, ASME and NPPA, DOT regulations, EPA
Clean Water Act and RCRA requirements.
- Minimum of 2+ years' experience as safety and/or environmental
professional responsible for compliance in the area of OSHA, ANSI,
ASME NFPA, DOT standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or
employees of the organization.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and
environmental rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Code
of Federal regulation, OSHA regulations and other consensus
standards, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability
and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid
geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages,
ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Excellent statistical and analytical skills
- Ability to travel is required.
