Job Description:
OBSTETRICS AND GYNECOLOGY (IN-OBGY-IUINA)
The Hawkins Lab in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology,
Indiana University School of Medicine, is seeking a research
technician to join our team to study a novel genetically engineered
mouse model of ovarian endometriosis and the tumor microenvironment
leading to ovarian cancer.
Handles mice independently after appropriate training.
Manages the rodent (mouse) breeding colony with supervision.
Performs tail genotyping with supervision by in-house PCR and/or
mail-out genotyping service.
Assists with experiments, including surgical procedures in mice,
molecular biology experiments (e.g., preparation of tissue for
histology and staining, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence,
PCR, RT-qPCR), and human and mouse cell culture work.
Analyzes data and reports findings to the lab group and/or
Principal Investigator (PI).
Organizes analytical data of performed experiments.
Installs and maintains research equipment.
Acts as a liaison to students and laboratory personnel for
training.
Maintains laboratory supply requisition and management.
Trains junior-level staff.
Plans experiments and short-term goals.
May require travel in order to service various research sites.
Bachelor's degree in science or related field
WORK EXPERIENCE
2 years of related research experience
Demonstrates a high commitment to quality
Interest in gaining additional experience in female reproductive
tract studies in genetically engineered mice
The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work
environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment
effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing
up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical
parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the
essential functions with or without an accommodation.
